Fireworks, Green Beer and Boboli Gardens!

So much has been going on this past week!

WEDNESDAY:

Italy was celebrating it’s 150 unification anniversary!
( and the musuems were open to 1 am for freeeeee)
All of Florence has been decked out with Italian flags,
they even illuminated the Ponte Vecchio in green white and red!

EVERYONE was out it was amazing! We went to dinner at none other than Tarrochi (yes we are regulars, no it is not an issue) and then adventured out into the world!

We tried for the Palazzo Vechhio museum where Damien Hirst’s diamond studded skull is, but the line was ridiculous and we heard there was going to be a band at Santa Croce so off we went.
I am so glad we did, the band was great and there was a hot air balloon! It was a lot of fun to see everyone out celebrating!

Once the band ended we walked to Ponte Grazie (the bridge that takes us to our apartment) and watched the fireworks!

(Now while these fireworks were great, I will say that nothing will beat 4th of July fireworks, these ones were much more tame but Rueben still wouldn’t have liked them!)

THURSDAY:

March 17th was a holiday for every program BUT OURS! Not because of Saint Patrick's Day but because of the unification!
 Oh well c’est la vie!

Devon, Marlene and I went to lunch and then to a bar to get green beer! WELL Devon and I had to head back to Art class and Marlene was going to the market, and we weren’t 100% sure it was okay to be drinking green beer on the street! Devon and I kept ducking into random alleys to try and drink a bit more and continue on before we got to art! Needless to say we will think twice next time!

Art was good, we had a different model which was cool. I found her a bit harder to draw for some reason but it all worked out! Our art teacher let us out early and then it was time to celebrate St. Patrick’s day, woooooooo!

St. Patrick’s Day definitely feels like a bigger deal at home.
(No not my homeland of Ireland, I mean America!)

There were these hats that said “the friendliest day of the year” and after being in Ireland I now understand.
If the logic is that EVERYONE is Irish on this day, and the Irish are the nicest people in this world, then it only makes sense that St. Patty’s would be the nicest day!

We went to Lion’s Fountain cause it is an "Irish Pub".
WELLLLLL Justin was SUPER dressed for the occasion, hilariousss.
I know I should have been embarrassed to be seen with him in public but I was not!

FRIDAY:

This morning we woke up and went to Pizza Man- do not let the name fool you, it was AMAZING. Probably the best pizza I have had since being in Italy, no joke.

Then we went to the Boboli Gardens! The gardens are in Palazzo Pitti, which was once home of the lovely Medici family.

The gardens were breathtaking!

And it was so sunny and nice today so it was just perfect.
I felt like fairies lived there or something it was so fun.

We only did half; I’m going to save the rest for when Dad gets here J
We also went to the costume gallery in the palace and it was so cool, we started going through and then went back to the beginning so that in each room we could pick which dress we wanted!

It was a BEAUTIFUL day J
